My concept was to show what a young adult/ teen would be doing on a hot summers evening in modern times, when back than there was wars, battles, violence, etc. Young adults/ teens would be fighting in wars, working, or doing something not as fun as what we could do today. I also added images from baseball games and hot dog stands on the street to symbolize the grilling and food aspect behind this image. You cant really see the baseball image but it is mixed in there.
I love the craftsmanship and techniques you used on the edges of the photograph to make it look older and damaged. The only critique I can think of is to add more motion blur to the hand because the figure is standing up and holding something.
ReplyDeleteHi Dominic! I think you have a really unique concept, and it contrasts well with what someone our age would have done back then. The craftsmanship is really strong, and I think the border is very effective. I would have liked to have seen more blur in the background, since it appears that the doors aren't more blurry than the grill, but that may just be my screen!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I would have ever understood this concept without the explanation. Perhaps a different background (like one of the civi war battlefields) would highlight the divergence in roles over time. It's a great subject, just lost in the visual translation.
ReplyDeleteThe technique around the edges is convincing.
This is well thought of and I can sort of see the baseball image blended in which is really creative especially dealing with your concept. I agree with the statements listed above. I feel like the grill does need a rusty look almost and background should be a little blurred out for more motion. But otherwise the border seems very smooth and I like the smoke feel it gives it!
