Dana Brouillard Architectural Blend
I wanted to represent how Charlotte doesn't value its older architecture because it always tears the buildings down to rebuild new ones. In Italy they incorporate their historic architecture with new structures. This is an important concept because Italy shows the evolution of its society through the combination of architectural styles through the periods.

Dreaming of Home
At the beginning of last semester my artwork was consumed with images of London, but here I wanted to show a personal progression with both my homes feeling like they are equally weighted. Despite my American home occupying the foreground, London is still an important focal point; and I now appreciate that it's just a dream away.Architectural Blend
This semester I have focused on the idea of "southern culture" and what that idea may entail. I used several images taken on trips specifically exploring southern culture. What does it mean to be southern? What is southern architecture? There are many types of architecture throughout the south, so I chose to incorporate a few aspects into a main building that I feel represents the majority of the southern buildings in my area.

We are so fortunate here in our country for the food we have in our homes. Our pantries are in such abundance, its like a grocery store for others.

My idea for this was for the
merging of public and private architectural spaces. However, upon encountering
some limitations with my understanding of architecture and my conflation of
that terminology with interior design, I went with a slightly different blending.
Blending a series of vertical Amphitheatre mezzanine columns and a spiral
stairway in order to construct an arena in the visage of a spy glass out of
public spaces to have it open up and reveal a bed. A bed which, while not
specifically architecture itself, is indicative of private spaces. I also
really liked how because I was able to catch all the people in the space
unaware, they are all busy doing other things, yet are still engaged with the
display, due to the constructed architecture. Constructing a simulation of the
passive consumption of private lives that our society enforces within our media
cultures, especially within the parasocial relationships we are encouraged to
forge with our media and celebrity idols.

My concept for this project was how easy it is to become overwhelmed and lost in college. I portrayed this by taking different aspects of Rowe and combining them into an indecipherable labyrinth, emulating the feeling of anxiety and lost-ness.
