Night Prowler Fair -Michael Kasey

  1. Great idea for a night picture, but I would return when the rides are in motion. There could potentially be all sorts of light trails to give a sense of excitement, action and movement. Compositionally, it could use a focal point also. As it stands now, the light post seems to be one of the main subject, and this could be great if there was a lonely clown under it (or something interesting), but there is only street and cones.

  2. I love the overall coloration of your image- the contrasting blue and orange lights are pleasing. If you had used the closed down fair as a backdrop for a portrait, maybe of one of the fair workers, or of patrons leaving, it would have been more effective.

  3. I wish there were some movement in this shot. Perhaps getting the Ferris wheel in motion? The color palette us well executes although the lights feel a little hot. I might look at adding in another exposure where the lights are not so overpowering.

  4. This image is well-done overall. You've filled the frame nicely and created an interesting composition with your use of space. I wonder if you could implement a color palette with a wider range. This might create more dynamic qualities in the image. The orange color dominating most of the image, except for the far right, seems a bit overwhelming. Although, the warm tone could be a personal artistic choice, it would be interesting to see what a different palette could do. Great job.

  5. This is a really interesting take on a carnival scene in comparison to what one would normally think they would look like(high color, lots of lights, basically how Kate's piece looks). However, I think. this makes the shot different, because it sheds a different light on something we're all familiar with. The look of this is really nice, good focus, nice even coloring with little splashes of purple and orange all over. The only thing that I think might take it a step further would be if you had a figure walking across in the middle ground, just to give more of a narrative.

  6. I don't know if capturing movement was necessary. As a lot of people above suggest. Here there's this ennui of abandonment that's been captured in what feels like the dead of night and I think that managing to capture a side of an event like this that we aren't supposed to see speaks to your talents as a photographer. especially if the park wasn't empty at the time.
