Old is New Again: Wet Plate Collodion

  1. The overall edges and markings on the image are well done. One thing I would work on is to go back and try to play around with bringing out more highlights in the image itself.

  2. I love this composition and the way you framed the photo! I think that the photo is a little too scratched up though. All of the scratches and marks fade the picture a little bit which is cool, but wet plate was very contrasty and I lose that in this photo.

  3. This image is beautiful. I'm excited you chose the subject of an antique bridal portrait. The flaws in the borders of the plate are executed well, and the chemical stains throughout exaggerate the look of a wet plate collodion image.

  4. I like the contrast between the light and dark areas in this photos wish that the right corner wasn't as heavy as it is with the black. I would have lighten it just a tad with the opacity but other then that a great subject matter.

  6. Great photograph, beautiful and timeless! The antique portrait of a bride is a great way to utilize the collodion as it evokes a feeling of finding this memento of your great-great-grandmother, which hints to a very special moment that the viewer can relate to. The smudge marks are nice but slightly overdone, as well as the blackness framing the photo, it would be nice to go back in and erase some to let the image breathe a bit more.
