Isabella Gagliardo - Scale Exaggerated

Scale exaggerated

Scale Exaggerated - April Lin

I saw a project about scale and proportion as a perfect opportunity to use some of the miniature figurines I use to play fantasy games with friends. However, most of the figures are quite small, only an inch or two tall, and detail was hard to make out. So I decided to use my largest figure, a five-headed dragon. Using a friend's replica sword, I posed as if fighting off the dragon, shrinking myself down to Minifigure size, taking part in a real-life adaptation of one of our games on the carpet. The 'scene' would include the dice, pencils, paper, and rulebooks used to play the game. I added my own shadow in, and took out the base of the dragon to make it look like it was actually flying. Most of the hard work was the mask but after that, I used various adjustment layers to tweak colors and add some drama to the battle.

Architectural Blend - April Lin

My concept stemmed from the root of my paren't birth place. My dad is from Fuzhou, China and my mom is from Taipei, Taiwan. I wanted to combine architecture from both areas to reflect back on where they came from and how their different backgrounds mesh together.
When I was younger, I always thought that water towers were actually large towers you could go inside, like an elevator with a room in the top. To this day, I still like to picture it. I took a picture of a large short building - I believe it was a church - and used a clipping mask to make a large watchtower jut out from the roof. I added some windows, that way you can do some actual watching from the top. I made sure the colors all matched, used a screen to add some texture to the image, and then toned down some of the colors as well. The building has now been transformed into an interesting people watching resort!

The intended concept behind my piece was to create architecture that represents each of the main buildings and statues I have to pass or go through in my daily college life. Each of these buildings are filled with memories that have made up my college experience thus far. I find myself constantly rushing towards them in order to accomplish the different tasks that come with college life whether it be academics, eating in dining halls, going to club meetings or attending campus events.

Architectural Blend- Kristen Campbell

My intended concept was my wish to be able to get on the train near my house and travel around the world. The photos used were from a trip I took to France and a trip I took to Jockeys ridge in Nags head, the mountains are a borrowed photo from a friend who went to Alaska. I hope you enjoy and leave a comment!

The concept behind this piece was to comment on the parking situation at the University and how there's not really a lot of parking for the amount of students there are, and they have torn up parking lots to make room for new buildings, like the new rec center. I Photoshopped the rec center as if it were coming up out of the parking deck and tearing it up.

I wanted to create like a rustic yet modern feel to the building. The car helped out to make the building feel more rustic, as well as the store sign on the top of the building. I noticed the awnings were a very similar color as the car and were more modern compared to the reset. I thought that pulled the building and the car together. As for the pillars, I thought the two ledges were perfect for something circular to keep the eye moving upwards. To pull it all together, the sunset cotton candy sky did a great job creating the mood of the image.
