Old is New Again : A Young Joey

  1. While the blurriness in some parts of the photo work, ie the dogs paws and tail, the blurriness in the dogs face is way to over done and make the dog appear as if it was constantly moving it's head back and forth during the taking of the photo. This blurriness would make more sense on the child and children are more prone to wiggling during a time when they have to stay perfectly still than dogs are.

  2. I like how you weren't afraid to blur a big portion of your picture, gives sense of reality. I wish the background wasn't very dark.

  3. The blurriness of the dog and splotchiness in the top right part of the frame onto Joey's face is a bit distracting to me. Toning it down might help, however I love what is starting to happen with the cracks and surface of the 'glass' in the top left, this photo itself is super cute also!

  4. Great composition! Definitely agree with the blurriness being present in this image. The dogs face is pretty awesome. The spots and the cracks on the left side seem pretty real. However, I feel like the dogs tail also moves when the dogs face moves (side to side). The dogs paws seem a bit to brownish. If it was removed, the paws it would probably make a better image.

  5. Since others have been commenting on the blur effects, I will refrain as I agree with their assessments.

While I enjoy the concept, I'm struggling with the overall dynamic range of the piece. I recognize the highlights are there, and they are quite vibrant; however, the depths of the shadows feels unexplored. I understand and appreciate how that might add to the effect of the baseline process and formal concept, but I do think it hampers the overall effectiveness of the composition to not have pushed what range might have been there further.

  6. I think that this composition is so funny. However, the one thing that throws me off about this image is that there isn't anything that isn't totally blurred. Maybe if just find one element that was sharp, that would help overall. It just feels a bit forced to get it to look like wet plate. My advice would be rein it in a little, and then it could be more successful.
