Digital wet plate - Johyun Lee

  1. The over all wet plate has the vintage feel we were going for, I think you nailed the coloration and the textures. The composition of the photo is set up nicely, but I would like to see a little more of a focal point. As in I am drawn to the tree almost in the center of the image if that was cropped in just a little I think it would make your image even stronger. Compared to other photos the glass breaks look pretty realistic good job!

  2. The use of photoshop in this image is really well executed, the illusion of broken glass to the stains on the image are done extremely well. The contrast of the image also gives the feel of wet plate as well, with the shadows of the image being black, making the highlights stand out.

  3. I think your execution of the wet plate technique is spot on! The dirty gritty feel is something I would associate with this process and the cracked glass almost looks like lightning in the dark cloudy sky. I see there is a small house in the bottom left corner and that could have served as your focal point instead of the trees in the middle. Great job!

  4. The cracks in this image definitely give off the impression that this is a wet plate collodion photograph. In addition the missing piece of the image adds to idea of this being on glass. It appears as though this could be during the beginning of a storm which adds a somber tone to the composition. The point of view is interesting and allows the viewer to feel as though they are in the moment, looking up at the sky as the clouds form. Excellent work!

  5. The image itself is extremely interesting because although it's a simple sky photograph, the framing and point of view of it make it look almost panoramic, which is unique. The addition of the cracks were an effective way to create the authentic wet plate collodion look, but it also creates strong contrasts with the highlights of the sky, which is eye-catching!

  6. The fact the every moment is passing by and it doesn't come again. Although I have arrived in Charlotte pretty shortly, I thought how it would feel when I go back to Korea after my study-abroad time is over. How I would reminisce it. I might feel sad, I might even think if I had ever been there. However, pictures prove that the time was real. This photo was taken in campus, near the dorm called greek village.
Clouds are taking a big part of the image. Clouds are constantly moving, in some direction. They don't stay the same. This shows 'time'.
Capturing the clouds before they are gone. Capturing the moment. The wet plate collodion gives a sense of time and old memory that you doubt even exists.
