Scale Exaggerated-Jamila

  1. Jamila, I love this idea. I feel like you are missing shadows in various spots. Usually, when the light is as bright as you have in this image, shadows is more visible. To push this idea a bit more I would add the painting that is being painted and would add paint on your clothes and arms to give that allusion of you being small and trying to create something big :) Just an idea. Overall this is a great start.

  2. I absolutely love the playful approach to this photo. The masking of the figure is very well done, I would encourage you to put more time into correcting the shadows and highlights so that it matches the background more, really grounding the figure. Also adding 'tiny' pieces of the art that the figure is working on could be very interesting and give more of a story to the audience.

  3. This is a great piece, I love it!! I just think you need to stress on the shadow under her a bit.

  4. The concept of exaggerated scale is evident in your image! If you wanted to push it further, I think a large tube of paint in the foreground would be effective (maybe some paint could be squirting out onto the pallet).

  5. I love the use of the paint brush and paint palette as your scene, and I feel that you did a great job with scale and the use of your scene. I think a thing that could make this piece better is to add a shadow where your feet are so that it gives an impression that your on the palette.

  6. A playful concept, though I'm not sure I understand the gesture. There are a few lighting/shadow disconnects. I would also think about the concrete block backdrop. It seems like such a default element in the space, yet it takes up so much visual room.

  7. I love this idea of being completely immersed in art and the process of it. I feel like it's a perfect depiction of an art student. Also the implication that your paint brush is really heavy because it's so huge implies that this is also something that takes a lot of energy which is also very true to the major and the process of making art. The only thing I would probably do is blend yourself a little better. Maybe add a drop shadow or tweak some of your highlights and shadows.
