Scale Exaggeration - Anya

  1. This piece is interesting. It's such a clever concept with the Russian nesting dolls. The figure is clearly scaled down in its environment. I might add more shadow detail into the figure to illustrate it being inside the doll. Overall, good job.

  2. I really love the concept of this, it's humorous because the figure looks like the doll she is coming out of. I'd perhaps use a slightly less patterned background as it's already a busy composition.

  3. This is a very creative idea, and the girl is placed very realistically in her environment. I just wish the girl was a little bit bigger so we can see the idea clearly when printed on canvas. May be zoom in a bit.

  4. Oh, this is clever! I appreciate how you matched the scarf you're wearing on your head to the pattern on the dolls. The photoshopping of the figure inside the doll is also done well. Good attention to detail.

  5. The composition of the photo is very engaging. While the story is interesting, it does not offer a lot of information to the audience. Adding more elements to imply how much time has been spent in the doll, motivation for leaving, or life inside the doll would really bring this piece to the next level. Don't be afraid to really push the editing of the shadows on the figure in order to sell the face that it is inside the doll.

  6. If you were going for communicating a feeling of lost you did quite well. If not the background is far too busy for the pattern of the dolls. Personally I find the combination of pattern and color palette with the subject matter quite complex which greatly mirrors the intricate styling often found on Russian nesting dolls. Overall good job but I would explore re working or re photographing the figure do that it matches the surroundings. She seems far too bright for the space she is in.

  7. Very fun concept. I don't know if the lighting on the figure quite matches the lighting of the dolls? or at least how it would appear in that scenario. I feel like it would be either brighter, or the figure would be in shadow cast by the top part they're lifting?

    Not sure.

The angle of the photos seems to match well.

  8. This project works great conceptually and fits the scale idea in a clever way. Did you experiment with other compositions that utilized a stronger sense of space? I would be curious to see how this would work. As it stands, the descending order of size makes conceptual sense, but with the background it does make for a flat composition/space.

It looks like there are some small red touches to the woman's scarf. I would make this more intense. It would be great if there was a stronger color connection between the figure and the 5 surrounding dolls (?).
