Architectural Blend - Danny Lizano

The Guardian - After a devastating catastrophe, all that remained in the gardens of a palace was a swing set that belonged to the child of a royal family. Being a lonely child and playing on this swing set with no one to push her, her only true friends were the statues that loomed over her in the gardens.

  1. I think this piece is excellent. The contrast of the wooden frame with the stone statues really gives a nice comparison between simplistic, geometric forms that are easily created and man-made statues that take time and precision. The over-all aesthetic of the image is well thought out and the only thing I would change would be the contrast levels in the wood and rocks that we discussed in crit. Awesome job.

  2. This in my opinion is the most successful photo. I love the eerie and mysterious feel of the photograph. I love the concept of loneliness in contrast with the idea of a swing. Typically when you're on a swing someone pushes you, especially when you're a child. But in the photo above, the swing is empty and barren adding a twist to the purpose of a swing. Usually it becomes easy to to add a lot things while it's much harder to know what to leave out, this is where this photo excels. It has exactly what it needs. Nothing more, nothing less. Another aspect I thought was successful was the great composition. The only things that I would change would be to match the tones in the photo in particular those of the wood and stone structures. As well as blurring the smoke to better blend with the background. But overall, phenomenal project!!! It was AAAWWWWWESOMEEE!!!!
