Architectural Blend: Charlie Raggett

Dreaming of Home
At the beginning of last semester my artwork was consumed with images of London, but here I wanted to show a personal progression with both my homes feeling like they are equally weighted. Despite my American home occupying the foreground, London is still an important focal point; and I now appreciate that it's just a dream away.

  1. For mine there is two avenues I could take in regards to conceptual improvements.
1 - Pushing the idea of a dream scape. I'd integrate the unrealistic feel of the brick wall with my composition of the London skyline. Maybe warping the edges of the landmarks to distort them would help push my idea of this being in a dream. For those who know the London skyline will notice that this isn't actually what this looks like, but I forget that isn't public knowledge to my American audience, so I need to use other techniques to covey this.
2 - I could also have really simplified the entire concept, and ultimately start fresh. Mixing London and Charlotte's skyline to more clearly represent the two coming together. Adding personal elements, perhaps even myself, would still push the fact that it is about myself.

In terms of my actual photographic techniques, there wasn't many comments made. It's quite clean and there aren't any unexpected shadows, so I'm not sure how this part would have been improved.

Further Photoshop techniques that could be beneficial to my piece is using the Perspective tool to make the Exit sign more believable. I could also think about how the flag is integrated with the bed, it feels artificial. Perhaps also using brushes to create cracks in the brick if I wanted it to be slightly more realistic feeling.
