Film Noir- Yount

  1. You nailed the film noir style. The seedy suspicious appearance really comes through in the character's demeanor.

  2. It is clear that you spent a lot of time retouching this portrait in ways that fit the assignment. I would like to see a little bit more definition in the top of the hat, but overall very it's well done.

  3. The composition of the photo is really strong! While the contrast is nice, I think the dark areas in your face might be a little dark. Try masking out the eyes within the shadow so that they don't get lost and drag the viewer back into the middle of the picture.

  4. The initial gesture is amplified well through the changes in light and tonality. In the end, the figure has become more mysterious. She appears as if she has entered the realm of a film noir set. There are some small adjustments (such as the blur to the hair) that combine together to create an effective emotional tone.

  6. Good job at using your exposure and various other adjustments on both the background and the figure to pull them together into one cohesive work! I would play around with the eyes a little more if you planned to have them visible. otherwise great job!

  7. I love the mysterious aspect of your piece! Your selection is really good, I can see the individual hairs on the left side of your hair. The only think I would say is maybe giving more background. I like how you're close to the foreground and large in the picture, but the space just feels really tight.
