Dana Brouillard Architectural Blend

I wanted to represent how Charlotte doesn't value its older architecture because it always tears the buildings down to rebuild new ones. In Italy they incorporate their historic architecture with new structures. This is an important concept because Italy shows the evolution of its society through the combination of architectural styles through the periods.

  1. Based upon the in class critique, this image should be place into a more urban environment. This would help convey the concept of the destruction of historical sites in Charlotte versus of the preservation of ancient architecture in Rome. Another comment that was brought to my attention would be to push the shadows to create an even more convincing environment. An area that would be relevant to would be the bottom left part of the structure where the wall that is coming towards the viewer meets the ground.
When I revisit this project I will use a different photograph for the background site for the placement of the architectural structure. I will also reconfigure the shadows to match the lighting of the rest of the image. The porte-john also needs to be edited so that it isn't as sharp and is blended better into the grass. I will consider adding a crane or bulldozer to show the building is being torn down to help convey the concepts.
